We’re Fancy Like That!

Fancy NANCY that is! Sophia and I had a wonderful experience together with our friends Tatum and Delfina at the Chance Theater in Anaheim to watch Fancy Nancy The Musical. The girls got to participate in a special event after the show where the Girl Scout Daises were read a story to them on-stage by Mrs. Clancy (Fancy Nancy’s Mom)! It was wonderful to have spent the afternoon with Sophia Mia.

Galileo Space Explorers

Our second year and Sophia’s first. 

A really awesome experience for the kids. They’re challenged to innovate, solve problems, and have fun while making cool themed projects. This year was Space Explorers and Alex and Sophia loved every minute.

Alex made a motorized rover complet with satellite dish, camera, and flag, and sewed a plush alien. Sophia created a helmet (with nose scratcher, breathing tube, and telescope) and jet pack. 

Already looking forward to going back next year!

Rey's Adventure, by Alexander Ariza

Chapter 1:The Invasion
Rey couldn’t sleep. She got out of bed and tried everything she could think of to make herself tired.Nothing. Suddenly,Rey felt a strange feeling. A feeling… that something bad was about to happen. Then, Rey heard screaming, followed by the sound of gunshots. Cautiously, she peeked outside. She saw First Order stormtroopers attacking defenseless Jakku villagers. “I’ve got to do something!” Rey said to herself. She grabbed her blaster. Hidden, she took aim and fired. She took out a trooper who was setting up a turbo gun. The stormtroopers turned all their attention on Rey. “Freeze!” shouted a trooper. By then, all the villagers had escaped. “Uh-oh.” said Rey. She started to run. The stormtroopers followed. Rey started to shoot. So did the stormtroopers. As they did so, the junk in Rey’s home started to crumble! Some of the junk smashed some troopers. Other pieces of junk trapped the stormtroopers. Rey could see a hole in which she could escape. She climbed out of her home, jumped on her speeder, and raced toward the Millennium Falcon. She climbed into the cockpit, and set course for the Resistance Base.

Chapter 2:The Attack
At the Resistance Base, Rey warned everyone about something she’d heard from a stormtrooper. The First Order’s “Secret Weapon” was a planet called Starkiller Base #2. It could wipe out entire galaxies! General Leia sent out an attack squad (that included Rey) to fight, and possibly destroy Starkiller Base #2. The Resistance attack squad rose high into the sky, and took off, toward Starkiller Base. Rey was still piloting the Millennium Falcon, and she knew where the base’s weak spot was located. “The weak spot is inside the main gun.” Rey told the squad, as they neared the base. All of a sudden, First Order TIE fighters appeared and started firing like crazy!! One X-Wing broke away from the group and started firing at the TIEs. The rest of the squad did,too. “Keep on that one. I’ll take these two.” Rey told another pilot. Soon, all the TIE fighters were gone. One pilot flew in for a hit. She fired…but missed! More TIEs appeared, and a big battle broke out. Despite the chaos, Rey managed to find a spot where she could fire at the main gun. She took aim, and…FIRED!!!! The laser hit the exact center of the gun. “YAHOO!” shouted Rey. She quickly sent out a message to the group. The Resistance ships had destroyed all the TIEs, and took off, just in time. Starkiller Base #2 blew up behind them. Rey sped away, ready for her next adventure!
