burger & tooth!
As you can see, Alexander had his first cheeseburger - a burger from In-N-Out! and what better way to wash down a burger, fries and cucumber (he didn't eat the string cheese) than with apple juice?! Daddy was very excited about this "milestone" so we wanted to share. Oh yeah, one more thing - another tooth broke through today/tonight! Daddy told Alexander that's how he was able to eat his burger. ;-)

"Ewe Rock"
Today we visited the OC Youth Expo at the OC Fairgrounds. We learned about oxen and got to pet one which weighs almost 3,000 lbs!! We saw other animals at this year-round educational farm, including piglets just one day old, sheep, hairy goats, cows, and hens with chicks. Alexander was also able to "milk" a cow, plant sunflower seeds and brush up on his farming skills. We had a lovely morning together at Centennial Farms and look forward to visiting again!
Excuse me, I'm working here!
amazing grace
at night when I put Alexander to bed, I'll sing to him, either lullabies, movie tunes, or church songs. Of all the songs I sing to him, in English and Spanish, the one he's really taken to is the gospel, Amazing Grace. So much so, that he now sings some words of the first verse with me! and even on tune! He just constantly amazes me and I am in awe of him.

by himself
we've been working on sleep the last few weeks. working hard. his patterns got messed up around the beginning of the year and then we bounced back and forth between two naps and one. then he stopped sleeping normally at night. so we've been working hard to get him comfortable at night with sleeping by himself. it's been tough, uncomfortable and not exactly the most restful sleep for mom and dad.
however. I think we're starting to reap the benefits.
this is what it looks like when a little boy falls asleep in his crib by himself.
by. himself.
feel like we might have turned a corner here.
the alphabet
a fan of the company leap frog for a long time, I was pretty excited when Alexander received Scout as a birthday (correction, Christmas) gift last year. a talking dog that says your name, sings songs with your name and knows your favorite stuff? how cool is that? so I was pretty darn excited to see they made magnetic letters (which we planned on buying) that are better then normal - they talk! plug one into Scout's dog house and he tells you the sound it makes!
Alexander loves it and is already driving me crazy with the alphabet song it plays - over and over again!
i can walk!
the last few days Alexander has been stumbling a bit on his own. taking a tentative step or two and then falling down. tonight, just 2 days before his birthday, he finally put it all together.
