Valentine's Day (ahem Week)

This past week we enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day throughout the entire week! Monday, daddy and Alexander made cute and fun heart animals to give to his secret valentine and teacher at preschool. Tuesday, mommy and Alexander made strawberry cake-pops, which daddy and mommy later decorated, to share with friends. Wednesday, Alex signed his V-day cards for school (with mommy & daddy's help). Mommy also received a special Valentine via "speedy delivery speedy delivery" (mail) from her favorite lil valentine. (Thank you preschool!) Thursday - Valentine's Day - was also daddy's first work day at the preschool! He had the best time with Alex and all the kids helping to make the Tunnel of Love. Alexander loved having daddy there all day, crawling through the tunnel and getting hugs. He also enjoyed his special V-day lunch from his secret Valentine and opening his V-day cards! Afterwards we had fun at the park with our Mom's Club V-Day party. Mommy surprised the boys and made reservations at a restaurant where Alexander behaved like a true gentlemen and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner together.

Last Time with Mystic

Today was the last time the kids got to visit/ ride Mystic because she'll soon be returning to her owners. Alexander had a wonderful time (as always) brushing her, riding her and feeding her grass. He got to ride her 3 times and even trotted! We'll sure miss Mystic and look forward to future opportunities to meet/ride other ponies/ horses.

tracks

Alexander's been into taking things apart, then putting them back together. He really likes taking apart his train track and then rebuilding it; however, he still needs a bit more practice. Mommy helped him get the pieces lined up, but he knows how to lock them into place.

burger & tooth!

As you can see, Alexander had his first cheeseburger - a burger from In-N-Out! and what better way to wash down a burger, fries and cucumber (he didn't eat the string cheese) than with apple juice?! Daddy was very excited about this "milestone" so we wanted to share. Oh yeah, one more thing - another tooth broke through today/tonight! Daddy told Alexander that's how he was able to eat his burger. ;-)

amazing grace

at night when I put Alexander to bed, I'll sing to him, either lullabies, movie tunes, or church songs. Of all the songs I sing to him, in English and Spanish, the one he's really taken to is the gospel, Amazing Grace. So much so, that he now sings some words of the first verse with me! and even on tune! He just constantly amazes me and I am in awe of him.

rolling and babbling and solids, oh my!

yup this past week was very eventful for us. mommy saw alexander's first rolling marathon as he went rolling back and forth from his back to his tummy and tummy to his back for the width of the bed. this past week, we introduced him more vigorously to solid (baby) foods and he's had only the best cuisine (of course) = breastmilk + applesauce or peas or butternut squash or carrots or sweet potato or oatmeal! daddy's slowly increasing his caloric intake to help our alexito sleep through the night. we've had a few successful nights and some not so successful, but we're all still transitioning. speaking of transitioning, AAA is now in his own bedroom full-time! mommy and daddy have removed the pak-n-play from their room and AAA is sleeping only in his crib! mommy and/or daddy still need to wake up a couple times some nights and trek over to his room, but we've learned to do the walk to his room in our sleep! and as if these events could be topped, our little boy who is growing up so wonderfully, started actually babbling - saying "da da" constantly - and wanting to stay up last night with us and just chat away! he's finding his beautiful voice and we are just so in awe of him.

big toe tastes the best!

this past week AAA has deliberately been seeking out his feet (in particular his toesies) and putting them where he puts everything else: his mouth! it's pretty awesome to watch him discover himself at this stage. each day is a wonderment!
