What a fantastic day we had at the beach with Rebecca and Abuelita joining us for a special summer outing. So fortunate to be able to enjoy the waves, tide pools, sand and sun together.

Abuelita took the kids on a special outing to Kidspace Children's Museum in Pasadena, complete with their own heartfelt picnic lunches. They pretended they were ants, painted a giant leaf, and even got to pet a gecko! Thank you Abuelita!

This weekend we went to the annual Early California Days carnival at St. John Vianney. The kids had fun on the rides and in Kiddieland (thank you Grandpa!), daddy won 2 glasses at his favorite coin toss game and Abuelita and Grandma Aguilar tried their luck at bingo.
Today, we went to Underwood Family Farms in Somis with Abuelita, Grandpa, Rebecca and Tia Suzi to pick blueberries. We had such a fantabulous time. Alex and Rebecca got to pet the animals in the petting area and play in the play area. Thank you for a wonderful day.
Today we had a wonderful time at Safari Park with Rebecca, Tia Suzi and Tio Jason. Alexander especially enjoyed showing Rebecca the okapi, one of his most favorite animals! They both also really enjoyed brushing the goats at the petting zoo.
Today Alexander, Rebecca, Nicholas, (and Olive) took their first ferry trip! Our destination: the Ellis Island of the west, Angel Island. It is where most Asian immigrants entered the U.S., along with Russians, Australians, and other ethnicities. It was open as an immigration facility from 1910 to 1940. It was really great to learn a little about this part of our nation's rich history - not to mention to see how super excited Alexander was to be on the boat!
This past weekend we went to Villa Del Sol Sweet Cherry Farms in Leona Valley, CA (by Palmdale) to pick cherries for the first time with Alexander! Grandpa came with us and Rebecca and parents and Baby Nicholas and parents joined us too! Alexander and Rebecca had the best time picking cherries, eating cherries, and playing in the dirt. Mommy hopes this becomes a family tradition for us. We made cherry muffins tonight and prepared the dough for cherry pie later this week! EXCITED!!
Today is Rebecca's 2nd Birthday! She had a Dora-Fiesta Party! and just like Diego, Rebecca's primo, Alexander, joined in all the fun. Cousins Mikey, Viana and Kaylee with Isaac and Ethan were fellow explorers too. The Birthday Girl and the other exploradores had an adventure-filled day where the parents made personalized Backpacks (thank you Abuelita!!) so that Mapa could help them find Estrellas, then to play music with flutes, cymbals and maracas! and then to Pin the Flower Pulsera on Dora, and through the Jungle (Gym) to the Piñata! There were hap' birfday hats, cake and ice-cream too! The exploradores had a fantastic adventure! Happy Birthday Rebecca!!!
Today we celebrated our Chavarela Christmas at Abuelita & Grandpa's. Since all except Tia Lisett & Tio Nick are going to be out of town this year, the day was packed with lots of things to do! We started with visiting Aaron and putting up a lil tree for him (Abuelita had left the cherub there 2 weeks before!) Then headed over to the Annual VFW Holiday Party where Santa Claus made a surprise appearance! and then to the house where Alexander & Rebecca made the traditional press-cookies from Abuelita's favorite recipe for the first time!! Both kids caught on very quickly and are destined to be great helpers in the kitchen, especially now that AAA has an honest to goodness chef's jacket with his name engraved! and Rebecca got a (toy) kitchen where they can practice!
Alexander, Rebecca and mommies had a beach adventure yesterday at Laguna Beach. It only took us a few hours to get out of the house and get to the beach, but we did it!! We ate lunch, saw lots of birds (even a helicopter that Alexander was pointing at), and played in the sand. We had a wonderful adventure together and look forward to many more.
