Children's Museum of Phoenix

We had a wonderful time playing around the children's museum while visiting family and friends this weekend in Arizona. Alex climbed with Grandpa, made a stick dog (his choice instead of a stick person) with Daddy, a leaf rub with Grandma, played in a fort, raced cars with Daddy, went shopping at the "market" and even discovered a "noodle" forest!

This week, Sophia had a doctor's appointment. Our darlin' (as Daddy calls her sometimes) is doing fantastic. She's healthy and strong - holding her head up for (what seems) a long period of time, "standing" up, and connecting with us with her eyes and beautiful smile. Amazingly enough, she didn't cry at all when she was given her shot! Sophia is such a wonderful baby and joy. Alexander constantly wants to either see her, kiss her cheek and head, hug her, or hold her. When she's in her crib, he'll entertain her by showing Jacques the Peacock to her and talking to her. His love for his sister is so pure and it makes our hearts smile to see it every day.

Notably, we're a whole lot calmer (less stressed and anxious) with Sophia than we were with Alex (thank goodness). To that end or perhaps just because it's the type of baby she is, Sophia has only been waking up once a night to nurse! Thankfully, she's been eating very well during the day and gaining weight on track.

She's also started talking to us, which is very exciting! So many more exciting things to come. We can't wait and are truly enjoying our life.

33/34

Yesterday was our regular checkup. Everything is going extremely well. Olive continues with her advanced calisthenics and aerobics and seems to be growing on schedule. On a even more humorous note, while there, Dina made her "final" appointment on the 17th of April. We joked she should just book a room at the hospital since we'll probably be there on that day.

So mark your calendars.

Valentine's Day (ahem Week)

This past week we enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day throughout the entire week! Monday, daddy and Alexander made cute and fun heart animals to give to his secret valentine and teacher at preschool. Tuesday, mommy and Alexander made strawberry cake-pops, which daddy and mommy later decorated, to share with friends. Wednesday, Alex signed his V-day cards for school (with mommy & daddy's help). Mommy also received a special Valentine via "speedy delivery speedy delivery" (mail) from her favorite lil valentine. (Thank you preschool!) Thursday - Valentine's Day - was also daddy's first work day at the preschool! He had the best time with Alex and all the kids helping to make the Tunnel of Love. Alexander loved having daddy there all day, crawling through the tunnel and getting hugs. He also enjoyed his special V-day lunch from his secret Valentine and opening his V-day cards! Afterwards we had fun at the park with our Mom's Club V-Day party. Mommy surprised the boys and made reservations at a restaurant where Alexander behaved like a true gentlemen and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner together.

Happy Birthday Grandpa Mike (@ NHM)

To celebrate Grandpa's birthday, we went with Grandpa, Abuelita, Tia Suzi's family and Tio Nick's family to the LA Natural History Museum! We saw the beautiful dioramas of animals from different areas, dinosaur fossils (even had a Dinosaur Encounter with a baby triceratops), living bugs and insects (including a millipede and hissing cockroach up close, which he would not touch), and gems and minerals. Alex also got to see under a microscope and through a telescope and binoculars!

Busy Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend

We are so incredibly thankful for the gift of Alexander, who brings us joy and laughter everyday and makes us want to strive to be better (parents, spouses, persons). We are also thankful for the wonderfully supportive and loving family and friends we have. Here are a couple of captured memories from this past weekend. The Wednesday night before Thanksgiving we went to Disneyland, the. Thanksgiving AM, Daddy and AAA baked an apple pie, and Friday he helped Daddy string the outside lights. Saturday we went looking for (and found!!) a tree and finished decorating the house. Sunday we celebrated Alexander's 3rd birthday! (That's a different post.)

Last Time with Mystic

Today was the last time the kids got to visit/ ride Mystic because she'll soon be returning to her owners. Alexander had a wonderful time (as always) brushing her, riding her and feeding her grass. He got to ride her 3 times and even trotted! We'll sure miss Mystic and look forward to future opportunities to meet/ride other ponies/ horses.

tracks

Alexander's been into taking things apart, then putting them back together. He really likes taking apart his train track and then rebuilding it; however, he still needs a bit more practice. Mommy helped him get the pieces lined up, but he knows how to lock them into place.

April 26, 2013

It's confirmed! and April 26, 2013 is our projected due date for our second baby.  She/he is almost 10 weeks old (the doctor said around 9 weeks 5 days - isn't modern technology amazing?! ha ha)!  We are so very excited (and a lil apprehensive) but mostly thrilled that we're adding another joy to our life (and that Alexander will have a sibling).  The doctor also mentioned that everything is measuring perfectly and that mommy's health is great! We haven't shared the news with our Blueberry, but he'll know soon enough!  At 9 weeks, the baby is approximately the size of an olive (at 10, a prune), so we're calling this one Olive. Here's the first picture:
